The EIRAC Task Force met in Brussels (P&G premises) on March 2nd, 2010. The meeting addressed the topic of Integrated Sustainability, and the definition of the fundamentals of the new EIRAC Strategic Research Agenda and Implementation Plan.

From May 12 to 15 the EIRAC has presented its results and future activities at the 12th International Exibition for Logistics, Telematics and Transport in Munich.



 

EIRAC members are representatives of stakeholders in the European Intermodal Community and are drawn from the following industries : Intermodal Operators, Private Terminal Operators, Freight Integrators / Logistics, Freight Villages, Trucking / Hauling Companies, Railway Undertakings, Shipowners, Inland Waterborne Operators, Port Authorities, Shipyards, Handling equipment Manufacturers, Rolling stock and loading unit Suppliers, ICT Suppliers, Cargo Owners, Academics and other invited organisations.

By joining the EIRAC, key players of the intermodal industry will contribute to:

  • Optimise the use of public funding, in order to stimulate the main stakeholders to invest in research activities,
  • Manage the results of research, in order to improve the potential to be used by the market, and to provide their assessment both before and after the execution of the project,
  • Stimulate the application of indications contained in the Implementation Plan into national programmes of research,
  • Expand the EIRAC network towards National key players (both public and private),
  • Find a common position on changes necessary to make transport greener, safer/more secure and smarter - to be communicated via the European Intermodal Association as established voice representing the interests of the intermodal sector.

EIRAC now represents a unique and unrivalled research & innovation platform for sharing ideas targeted at greening freight mobility and logistics in Europe, in a group of fresh, open-minded, and visionary partners.
